FREE Records Management Available to SharePoint® Users

80-20 Software today announced that its new 80-20 Compliance Server,™ designed to manage the retention lifecycle of electronic documents and emails, will be available at no charge to users of Microsoft Sharepoint.

September 12, 2005 (Melbourne) — 80-20 Software today announced the release of 80-20 Compliance Server™ a free add-on for Microsoft Sharepoint designed to manage the retention lifecycle of electronic documents and emails. Legislation like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, E-Sign and HIPAA mean most businesses are now required to keep business records for defined time periods and be able to produce them on request to a Government regulator or a Court. Compliance Server’s electronic document retention capability is a vital foundation to the implementation of comprehensive corporate governance and compliance programs for enterprises using Microsoft Sharepoint.

With SharePoint now the leading means of team collaboration on electronic documents, 80-20 Compliance Server provides a quick and inexpensive means of providing full enterprise records management for most corporations. The product can be deployed using both the free Windows® SharePoint Services and Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server.

A Free Product Offering

Traditionally companies would expect to pay substantial license fees for a comparable records management capability integrated with SharePoint, but 80-20 believes this essential piece of infrastructure should be offered for free.
